Bolivar heated up at crunch time, hitting 15-of-18 fourth quarter shots to hold off the Marshfield Blue Jays 68-55 in the finals of the Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 4 District 9 Basketball Tournament at
Preston Guiot, a 5-10 sophomore guard, led the Liberators to victory with 33 points.
Bolivar, now 13-12 on the season, advances to the Class 4 Sectional at
Guiot hit 5-of-6 shots in the first period, helping Bolivar to an 18-12 lead. He hit a pair of treys to spark a 10-0 Liberator run in the second period, putting the home team up 28-14.
The Blue Jays had an outstanding third period; making 10-of-11 shots and cutting the Bolivar lead to 45-42 after a conventional 3-point play by senior Justin Jones with 1:10 to play in the stanza.
Guiot scored the final basket of the third period to give Bolivar a 49-44 lead, and he scored 9 points in the stanza.
Bolivar scored the first 7 points of the final period, building a 56-44 advantage, but
Bolivar was on fire down the stretch, hitting 4-of-5 field goals and 11-of-13 free throws to seal the deal.
Guiot was 9-of-18 field goals, 4-of-9 treys and all 11 free throws he tried in the contest. He also had 3 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block for Bolivar.
Ryan Toombs, a 6-3 senior, added 15 points, hitting 3-of-5 treys with 4 rebounds and 2 assists for the winners.
Jordan McCrimmon added 12 points, 7 rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot to the Bolivar effort.

Justin Jones just missed a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds, making 5-of-10 shots with a steal in the game for
Senior Justin Drane also scored 9 points for the Blue Jays, making 4-of-6 field goals, including the only trey he attempted, with 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds in the game.
Junior Charlie Williams blocked 5 shots for
Senior Nathan VanDiggelen also scored 8 points on 4-of-6 shooting in the game for
Senior Alex Bartow added 4 points and 2 rebounds to the
Jordan Jones also scored 4 points for the Blue Jays, hitting both shots he tried in the game with a rebound and an assist.
Derek Welch and Cameron Keenan each pulled in a rebound for
Luke Harris scored 6 points for Bolivar with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in the contest.
Phillip Davolt added 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist to the winning attack.
Jake Jacobsen handed out a pair of assists and pulled down a rebound for Bolivar.
