The Blue Jays beat Willard in 10 innings on Monday to claim first District Championship since 2014. Coming in Willard was the top seed with a record of 31-6 and state ranked #4 in Class 4. Marshfield the number 2 seed ranked #8 improves their record to 22-8.
Willard started the scoring in the bottom of the first on a double by Kynlee Inman scoring the courtesy runner, Callie Wilen for Alivia Aruz after she started things off with a single.
Marshfield answered in the top of the 2nd Kyndl Dolan doubled to center field. Miley Austin grounded out to the pitcher but Dolan advanced to 3rd. Madelyn Beckner reached on an error and Dolan scored. 1-1.
The Lady Jays scored again in the 4th. Leading off Chloe Bateman reached first on an error. Dolan doubles again scoring Bateman from first. Jays lead 2-1.
In the 6th Dolan gets a 1 out single. Mylee Austin hits a scorcher back to the pitcher for an out but the pitcher overthrows first base trying for the double play and Dolan takes 2nd. Beckner singles and Dolan scores making it 3-1 Lady Jays.
In the bottom of the 7th the Willard Tigers fighting for their season had to score 2 to stay alive and they did. Callie Ebert Singles, Paxtyn Piper singles, Aruz strikes out looking, Inman reaches on an error scoring Ebert. Willard has runners at 2nd and third 1 out with the winning run in scoring position. 3-2. Barr singles scoring Piper from 3rd Inman moves to 3rd base. Winning run on 3rd only 1 out. 3-3
Pinch batter strikes out swinging on 3 pitches from Dolan. 2 down.
DeLaney Dixon flies out to Sophie Hall in center to end regulation tied up at 3.
In the 10th Hall gets a leadoff single. Bateman walks, Once again Dolan singles to score Hall and moves Bateman to 3rd. Lady Jays 4-Willard 3 Dolan takes second on the throw. Austin is intentionally walked to lead bases with 1 out. Beckner gets a sacrifice fly scoring Bateman from 3rd and the Jays lead 5-3.
The Lady Jays retire Willard in 4 batters to win the Class 4 District 6 Title.

Up next for Marshfield they will play Saturday in Columbia vs Father Tolton. The game will be played at Rockbridge High School (4303 Providence Rd).
