Both teams entered the game 5-3, but it was the Jays who come out with the 6-3 record. Marshfield sophomore pitcher Ashton Worth pitched a complete game shutout , striking out 8 Lady Wolves batters in the victory.
The Wolves had baserunners in every inning, but the Jays defense was strong and Reeds Spring stranded 11 baserunners in 7 innings.
Offensively for the Jays, it was a senior once again getting the big hit when needed. This time it was Erin Hargus who got a two run double in the third inning scoring courtesy runner Emily Crowley and Elizabeth Campbell. That is the only 2 runs needed, but the Jays added one more in the 3rd and 2 in the 5th to get the win 5-0.
Next action for the Ladies will be Friday as they play two in the Ozark Softball Festival. We will get that bracket posted for you late tonight.
