Bailee Competes Today!

Marshfield High School graduate and Drury University swimming team member Bailee Nunn will compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Omaha, Nebraska!

The 18-year-old is optimistic, but realistic, about her chances as she competes in three events. The top two individuals in each event qualify for the Summer Olympics in Rio in August.

“Basically, one of my goals for this meet is to make the finals, which is top 16, and maybe if I’m lucky, to make the top eight,” Nunn said.

In the 100-meter breaststroke, Nunn is seeded 53rd out of about 120 individuals, with about a two-second difference between her qualifying time and the time she expects to need to make the finals.  This is the event that gets underway today.

She also will swim the 200 individual medley on Tuesday June 28th, and in the 200 breaststroke on Thursday June 30th, she’s about three seconds away from the time that should land her in the top 16.

“I’m super proud to be where I am right now and to have accomplished what I have at age 18,” Nunn said.

“Hopefully after my senior year of college, I’ll have a better chance of making the Olympic team.”

Nunn left for Omaha on Saturday morning with her family.

BEST OF LUCK BAILEE!
