Hartville wasted no time in jumping on the scoreboard by pushing across 4 runs in the top of the first first inning. Marshfield answered though in the bottom half getting 3 runs back and after 1 in was 4-3 Hartville.
Both teams showed flashes of great defense. Hartville’s 3rd baseman Jesse Jones had a super game for the Eagles. Marshfield’s infield turned a spectacular double play and Shawn Steele made a great throw to Bigley down at second to throw out a would-be base stealer. Marshfield even fought back to take the lead at one point in the game 5-4 but a towering 3 run homer from Hartville put the game away and they went on to win 8-6.
Tomorrow(Friday) the Blue Jays travel to Willard (weather permiting) before the Marshfield/Lebanon Tournament starts on Saturday.
Saturday the Jays will play 2 games. The first one is at 9:30 am vs West Plains and then at Noon vs the Aurora HounDAWGS.
Aurora and West Plains will play at 2:30.
