The Jays started 2009 District play tonight against a potent Hillcrest squad that boasts a top 100 prospect in the nation . Doreal Green came to play tonight by catching 2 touchdown passes and gaining well over 200 yds receiving. Your Jays started off a little rough in the first half and the halftime score was 35-0.  The JAYS moved the ball well in the first half with 3 long drives but 7 first half penalties kept them out of the end-zone.

The Jays would come out in the second half on a mission and would actually out play the Hornets starting defense for the remainder of the game.  The second half score was the Jays 20- Hillcrest 3.  If it weren’t for the mercy clock burning up all of the 3rd quarter we could have had a chance at the comeback.  The outcome was to go the Hornet’s way as they final score was 38-20.

Stats in the ball game for Marshfield, Zach Hildebrand had 106 yds on 20 carries with a 40 yd TD in the 4th quarter. Leading Reciever was Kelsey Hyde with 58 yds. Peyton Bransfield started the game but came out in the 2nd due to injury. Sophomore Jared Greenlee came into replace Bransfield and was 8-31 passing, and had 42 yds rushing with a pair of rushing TD’s. Leading Tackler in the ballgame was Justin Yarnell. Others recording tackles in the ball game were Brad Dinwiddie, Cody Brown, Cody Greninger, Evan Theobald, and John Sampley.

Side note in the ballgame: Zach Hildebrand went over the 1000 yd mark in rushing in tonights contest for the season. Congrats goes out to him and his front line for all the hardwork they have done in the season.
