The Marshfield Blue Jays went to Rogersville last night and refused to be pushed around.  Marshfield outscored the Wildcats 20 to 8 in the fourth quarter to come from behind and win 58-49.  Marshfield takes the driver’s seat in the smaller school COC conference race after beating the Wildcats.  Last night’s game will be huge when it comes time for District seeding.

With 3:08 to go in the fourth quarter Marshfield got the ball to senior Jared Greenlee who drained a long 3 from beyond the top of the key making the score 49-46.  In the final 3 minutes the Jays added 9 more points to the Wildcats 3.

On the ride home Jimbo Tyson said he would never forget this game.  I don’t think I will either.

There were so many big plays in the game.  Utah Findley, refusing to be pushed around, had a big steal at midcourt.  Tanner Christoph was an animal on the boards.  Armstong had fantastic blocks and numerous assists.  Summers had a drive to the hole with a hesitation move that left his defender wondering how he got by him.  Kerrick Wright and Brett Diehl made great plays off the bench as they saw some big minutes in the game.  The Jays as a team were just so impressive.  Unselfish, balanced scoring offensively and tenacious defense are what we will remember from last night’s contest.

Scoring for the Jays as follows:

Greeenlee  19,   Armstong  14,  Findley 9,  Summers 8,  Christoff 8.

If you love basketball you better get out and watch this team play.  Next up for the 13-2 Jays will be Tuesday night from Bolivar, then we get a chance to avenge one of our losses as we host Republic on Friday night.
