The Marshfield Lady Jays dream season came to an end at Bolivar on Saturday, Feb. 23 when the Lady Liberators won the Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 4 District 9 Basketball Tournament with a 65-55 victory in the finals.
In a match-up of the top two teams in the Class 4 rankings, it was number 2 Bolivar knocking down the shots to avenge a regular season loss to the Lady Jays.
Bolivar hit 9-of-10 field goals in the first period, jumping on top of unbeaten
Casey Garrison and Lacey Boshe had both signed to continue their basketball careers at
In the third period, Bolivar’s Crystal Guiot hit 3-of-3 treys and the Lady Liberators made 7-of-9 field goals, building a 16-point lead. Bolivar led 50-37 entering the final period.
Garrison was fantastic, scoring 33 points in the game, hitting 12-of-16 field goals, 1-of-2 treys and 8-of-12 free throws with 6 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists and a blocked shot.
Guiot, a senior guard, added 13 points, hitting all 3 treys she tried in the game with 3 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists and a blocked shot for the winners.
Lacey Boshe wound up with 23 points, making 8-of-14 field goals and 7-of-9 free throws with 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in the game for
Senior Sara Jane Plemmons added 15 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and an assist to the Lady Jays effort.
Senior Jaysa Hartman added 5 points and 4 rebounds to the
Freshman Amanda Gourley scored 4 points in the game for the Lady Jays with 2 assists and 2 steals in the game.
Freshman Alley Bruton hit the only shot she tried in the game, a trey, and handed out an assist for
Junior Latasha Baderdeen also scored 3 points for the Lady Jays.
Junior Morgan Smith had 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist and scored a point for
Junior Anna Glenn pulled down 4 rebounds and handed out an assist for the Lady Jays.
Hayley Blair scored 7 points for Bolivar with 2 assists and a rebound in the game.
Andrea Porter also scored 7 points for the Lady Liberators with 2 rebounds, a steal and an assist in the game.
Rachel Sawyer added 4 points, 6 rebounds and a steal to the winning attack.
Brooke Hale scored 2 points and pulled down a rebound for Bolivar.
Katie Roweton pulled down 2 rebounds and Jessica Rumfelt had 1 rebound for the Lady Liberators.
Bolivar made 23-of-35 field goals in the game, including 5-of-10 treys. The Lady Liberators also hit 15-of-21 free throws.
