Last night the Lady Jays battled, but lost against the Ozark Lady Tigers. Marshfield wasted a wonderful pitching performance by freshman Ashton Worth. Worth struck out 12, walked two, and allowed only 6 hits. The Marshfield defense worked out of a jam in the 5th when Ozark had the bases loaded with only one out.
Both teams were scoreless going into the 7th inning and that’s when the Lady Tigers did the damage. A walk, hit batter, and defensive errors were the fuel Ozark needed and scored 4 in the top of the inning. Marshfield was unable to respond and went scoreless with a final score of 4-0.
Ozark played great defense behind the pitching of Shelby Romines. Romines allowed only 3 hits in the game and helped take her Tigers to the final four last year. Ozark has returned everyone from that final four team including shortstop Katlyn Chapin. Chapin was flawless from the field and reached base 3 of her 4 plate appearances.
