Gary Murphy’s Lady Jays traveled down highway 38 to face Hartville in the season opener for both clubs.  Your Marshfield Lady Jays won the contest by the score of 17 – 2.  Marshfield jumped out front early by scoring 6 in the top of the first inning.  The Lady Jays sent 10 batters to the plate in the 1st.  Latasha Baderdeen singled to lead off, Amanda Gourley tripled, Haley Hines singled, Kelsey Kleeman and Karissa Lorenz walked,  and Anna Glenn singled scoring 6 runs before the first out was recorded.  Tessa Jones also singled in the inning. 

Marshfield Freshman pitcher Ashton Worth got her first varsity start and what a start it was!  Ashton struck out 9 Eagles batters, walked 3, and give up only 5 hits in 5 innings played.

Every Marshfield player reached base safely and all but one scored. 

Latasha Baderdeen singled twice, doubled, and scored 2.

Amanda Gourley singled, tripled and hit a three-run shot over the left field fence for her first homerun.  She also walked twice and scored 3 times.

Haley Hines singled 2 times and was hit by the pitcher twice.  She scored 2.

Kelsey Kleeman had a single and scored twice for the Jays.

Karissa Lorenz drew and walk and scored in the first.  She was hit by a pitch at her next at bat.

Anna Glenn singled twice and had 3 RBI’s.

Catcher Hannah Keeth singled twice and walked.  The courtesy runner in her position was Freshman Emily Crowley.  Crowley score twice.

Kristin Bertoldie sacrificed, reached on a fielder’s choice, walked and played great defense at second.

Tessa Jones strutted her slap hitting with two singles and was hit by a pitch.  She scored two in the game.
