The lady Jays opened up district play in a big way by pounding Mtn. View Liberty by the score of 15-0 in 3 innings.
Marshfield’s pitching limited the Eagles batters to the minimum of 9 batters in the game. Ashton Worth struck out the first 6 in a row and the Marshfield defense, behind Kelsey Kleeman, turned a double play when Kristin Bertoldie snagged a fly out of the air and threw out the runner to first baseman Haley Hines.
Offensively, Marshfield pounded out 6 runs in the first, added 8 in the second, and the game was called in the 3rd after we took a 15-0 lead.
Marshfield will play for the district championship for the second year in a row as they will face the host team Logan-Rogersville at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
GOOD LUCK LADY JAYS!
