Saturday the Marshfield Blue Jays went to Branson to take on the Pirates. The Jays jumped out to a first quarter lead of 18-13, but Branson fought back in the second to cut the Blue Jay lead to only 2. 34-32.
The Jays started the second half with a 9-1 run to stretch the score to 43-33. A determined Branson team continued to fight and went on a 7-2 run to close the 3rd quarter to make the score 45-40 after 3.
In the final quarter the Jays took over , outscoring Branson 22 to 12 to close out the game. Final Score 67-52.
Thatch Unruh scored 22 points for Branson including 5 three pointers, but the high scorer of the night was Marshfields Utah Findley. He was unstoppable in the paint and the team found him repeatedly. Utah finished the game with a season high 32.
Thats what makes this team special. Any given night, who are the other teams supposed to key on. Sophomore Blayne Armstrong was the leading scorer vs Lebanon putting in 24. Jared Greenley has added 31 points and Tanner Christoph scored 18 over the last two games. The Jays have 7 different players including Kerrick Wright, Lawfton Summers and Brett Diehl who have stepped up to hit treys in the first 5 games.
The first 5 games of the season have been fun.
Next up at Willow Springs on Tuesday.
