The North Callaway Ladybirds outlasted our Lady Jays Wednesday night in Sectional play to advance into the regionals in Ash Grove. The Lady Jays end their season 18-8 as District Champions.
The Ladybirds jumped out in the first inning by scoring 2, but the Lady Jays answered with 3 and led 3-2 after 1.
Both teams were scoreless in the 2nd.
North Callaway scored 1 in the third, but again the Jays answered with 2 of their own and led 5-3 after 3 innings.
In the 5th North Callaway tied it up and it stayed that way until the 10th inning, knotted at 5.
In the 10th Marshfield retired the first 2 batters, but then the number 9 batter Brittney Karhoff singled, Thurman doubled in the lead run,and Vore bunted in the insurance run. The Ladybirds led 7-5. In the bottom of the 10th the Jays were retired 1-2-3 and the season ended.
Congratulations to the Lady Jays. The season ended with a record of 18-7, and a district championship. The sectional game was one to go down in history as a great contest.
