The game wasn’t one to remember, but Team USA left an impression the crowd will never forget. Team USA pounded a team of all-stars from the Missouri Valley Conference and other schools in the mid-West by the score of 15-0. Cat Osterman overpowered batters by throwing fastballs past the opposition. The first batter to catch up to one of her pitches got a roar from the crowd after fouling off a pitch in the third inning. Crowd favorite, Jennie Finch didn’t pitch, but did come into the game in the 7th inning to play 1st base. Team USA is the favorite to bring home the gold next month in China. Softball has been dropped by the Olympic Committee after this year, saying that softball is "too much of an ‘American’ sport."
