Lacey Boshe Leads Unbeaten Lady Jays

Senior Lacey Boshe scored a game-high 26 points to lead a relentless Marshfield Lady Jays basketball squad to a 73-46 nonconference basketball victory at Lebanon High School on Thursday night.

The Lady Jays improved to 7-0 on the season with the victory.

Lacey Boshe, a Missouri State University signee, scored 14 points in the third period to help the Lady Jays blow the game open. She finished the night with 12 rebounds, 5 steals and four assists, making 13-of-21 field goal tries, including 7-of-10 shots in the big third period, which ended with Marshfield on top 57-37.

Lebanon started quickly, jumping out to an 8-5 lead as Cierra Moore and Abbey Roam each hit a pair of field goals in the open moments.

But Marshfield went on an 11-0 run to take the lead for good, with 3-point shots by Jaysa Hartman and Amanda Gourley the keys to the surge. The Lady Jays led 19-15 after one period, getting 6 points each from Gourley and Sara Jane Plemmons in the opening period.

The Lady Jays extended the lead to 25-15 in the second period, but Lebanon rallied to pull within a possession of the lead at 25-22 late in the stanza. Lacey Boshe scored consecutive field goals to help Marshfield pull away to a 34-25 halftime lead. Lacey Boshe scored the first 8 points of the second half for Marshfield, and by the time Gourley knocked down a trey for the first non-Lacey Boshe field goal of the third period, Marshfield led by 15. Lacey Boshe, a 6-0 senior, handed out an assist to her sister, 6-0 sophomore Ashley Boshe, for the only other Marshfield field goal in the third quarter.

Gourley, a 5-3 freshman, finished with 12 points, hitting 4 treys out of 7 attempts in the game with five assists.

Morgan Smith, a 5-10 junior, also scored 12 points for Marshfield, playing a solid all-around game with eight rebounds, five blocked shots, five assists and two steals.

Senior forward Sara Jane Plemmons was the fourth Lady Jay to score in double figures with 10 points, five rebounds, three steals and an assist in the contest.

Senior Jaysa Hartman added 8 points, a steal, an assist and a rebound to the winning attack.

Ashley Boshe finished with 5 points, 4 rebounds, a steal and an assist.

Anna Glenn and Kassie Hyde each had a steal for a Marshfield defense which finished with 13 steals and 5 blocks in the contest.

The Lay Jays hit 6-of-12 treys and 29-of-62 field goals in the game, and made 9-of-10 free throws.

Moore, a 5-9 junior, led the Yellowjackets with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Roam, a 6-0 senior, finished with 11 points, 7 rebounds, a steal and a block for Lebanon. Brittany Stamm added 4 points, 5 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 assists to the Yellowjacket effort.

Marshfield was short-handed because of illness and injury, the most serious an arm ailment that has landed junior guard LaTasha Baderdeen in the hospital.
