Ozark tops Marshfield JV

The Ozark junior varsity held on for a 46-44 Central Ozark Conference basketball victory at Marshfield High School on Saturday, improving to 13-3 on the season with the road win.

The Lady Jays fell to 16-3 with the setback.

Ozark hit 21-of-39 field goals in the game, and blocked 8 shots with strong interior defense.

Marshfield made 5-of-8 treys in the game, and had a chance to tie the score in the final seconds, but a last shot rolled out.

Ozark led 12-9 after one period, and extended the lead to 11 in the second quarter. Marshfield was down 28-21 at intermission, but rallied to tie the score at 32-32 late in the third period on a 3-point shot by Jessie Bruton. A trey by Hannah Keeth gave the Lady Jays a 35-34 lead at the end of the third period.

But Ozark hit 5-of-5 fourth quarter field goals, including 3 by Ciara Eastwood, to seal the deal.

Eastwood finished with a game-high 17 points, picking up 4 steals and a rebound for the winners.

Kayla Baldwin led the Lady Jays scoring with 12 points, hitting 5-of-8 field goals and 2-of-3 free throws in the game with a game-high 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals.

Hannah Keeth made 3-of-5 treys in the game, scoring 9 points for Marshfield with 2 rebounds.

Chelsea Ahrens celebrated her 16th birthday with 8 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the game with a game-high 7 rebounds and 3 steals for the Lady Jays.

Sarah Neptune scored 5 points for Marshfield with 2 rebounds, a steal and an assist.

Jessie Bruton finished with 3 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds and a steal for the Lady Jays.

Shelby Porter also scored 3 points for Marshfield with 2 rebounds in the game.

Kaitlyn Murgel added 2 points, 3 rebounds, a steal and an assist to the Lady Jays effort.

Justina Burney scored 2 points for the Lady Jays with 2 assists and a rebound in the contest.

Jenna Diehl had a rebound and a steal for Marshfield.

Danielle Williams led the Ozark defense with 5 blocked shots in the game, scoring 9 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

Colbi Howser added 6 points, 6 rebounds and an assist to the winning attack.

Jackie Wacha also scored 6 points for Ozark with 3 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists and a blocked shot.

Kara Dickemann finished with 4 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, 2 rebounds and a blocked shot for the Lady Tigers.

Sarah Stanknik also scored 4 points for Ozark with 2 steals, an assist and a blocked shot.

Brandi Edwards had 4 rebounds and a steal for the winners.
