The Ozark Tigers shut out the Lady Jays on Tuesday, winning by the count of 6-0. The Tigers scored one in the first and one in the second, making the score 2-0. Marshfield was able to keep the game close until the sixth inning when Ozark scored 4 to put he game out of reach. The Jays bats never came to life and they were shut out for the second time this year. Ozark’s record improves to 7-0 on the season and the Lady Jays drop to 5-2.
After he game’ Coach Murphy said, "We have the makings of a very fine softball team, but we need to step up to the challange of playing a team like Ozark." Ozark, who started 2 juniors, 6 sophmores, and a freshman, returned everyone from a team last year who made it to the state quarterfinals.
The Jays will only have one day of practice before going to Reed Spring on Thursday. On Friday, the Jays will travel to Ozark to play in the Ozark Tournament. Marshfield is seeded 8th out of 16 teams. They will play unseeded Rolla in the first round at 3:15 on the West Field. Win or lose, the second game will start at 6:30. The tournament will conclude on Saturday.
