Marshfield Blasts Buffalo (Rebroadcast Available)

Marshfield used the longball and speed on the bases to break open a back and forth battle in District play at Eyler Field this afternoon.  Marshfield took the first lead of the game in the second inning by manufacturing a run that was started out with an error.  Tim Ryan reached safely with an error on the shortstop.  Ryan reached second on the overthrow.   Cody Brown then singled scoring Harms.  Harms was the courtesy runner for Ryan.  Marshfield took the lead 1-0.

It stayed 1-0 until the top of the fouth when Buffalo’s Cody Rosier tied the game on the first pitch of the inning.  Rosier homered to make it 1-1, but the Bison were not done.  They added 3 more in the inning to take a 4-1 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth it was Tim Ryan once again getting things started.  Ryan reached on an error for the second time when his blast to centerfield was misplayed by the fielder.  The next batter was Shaun Steele.  Down in the count 0-1 Steele hit a long foul ball bouncing off of a car parked out on Julian street.  The next pitch he was down in the count 0-2 when he again launched one into the air that landed in the center of Julian street for a 2 run home run.  That hit closed the gap to 4-3.

Buffalo extended the lead in the 5th to 5-3.  In the bottom of the 5th Keenan singled and stole second.  Justin Fraker smashed a 2 run home run to tie the game at 5.  Chris Arnold walked and scored on back to back singles by Nathan Van Diggelen and Tim Ryan.  The score after 5 was Marshfield 6-5. 

In the 6th Buffalo took the lead again by scoring 3, going to the bottom of the sixth the score was 8-6 Buffalo. 

In the bottom of the sixth Cody Brown leads off with a single and stole second, then Bigley singles and steals,Keenan singles,Jones singles, Fraker singles and steals a base, Arnold reached on an error, Van Diggelen singled,Ryan doubled and Shaun Steele hit his second home run of the game…..all in a row.   All in all the first 9 Blue Jays to the plate scored.  Marshfield tallies 9 in the inning and wins 15-8.

Tomorrows games will be West Plains vs Rogersville at 4:30 and Marshfield will take on Springfield Catholic at 7:00.
