The Lady Jays beat Norwood 7-3 in the opening round. The game was suspended because of rain on Friday, but resumed and finished on Saturday morning. That victory set the match-up with the top seeded Morrisville Panthers.
The game was scoreless until the Panthers scored two runs in the 4th and added two more in the 6th. That’s how it ended- with the score Morrisville 4, Marshfield 0. Coach Murphy reminded me in the post game interview that the Lady Panthers were coming off of a year in which they finished 27-3 and advanced to the final four. He also added that we may get to see the Panthers again, as both teams will be playing in the Norwood Tournament.
In the third place game, the 4th seeded Bluejays faced the 3rd seeded Ava Bears. Marshfield jumped out early by scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. That’s all the runs they would need, as Ava scored only once in the 4th and the Jays won by the score of 2-1.
CONGRATULATIONS to the Marshfield Lady Jays on their 3rd place victory.
Marshfield is now 4-1 on the season, and will play at Willard on Tuesday the 28th.
